Nice bike and no distress to assemble at all!

This “freestyle” bike had all the features that my son wanted; “mag” wheels, front and rear axle pegs and it was a MONGOOSE! (a analytically vital aspect.)

I was very reluctant to buy the bike based on the other reviews here, but I did order it and had it delivered to my office. I was able to place this bike together in about 35 minutes while wearing a suit and tie. No problem at all.

This bike is not super lightwieght, but it’s not really heavy either. A Diamondback “Viper” BMX bike is considerabley lighter, but this bike is OK. It also has the gadget that allows the rider to spin the handlebars and not tangle up the brake cables.

All in all I am very pleased I chose to buy this Mongoose and get my son exactly what he wanted his Christmas. After all, how often does that happen?

    Very poor craftsmenship

I had to send this bike back because the holes for the pedals to attach to the bike were not drilled large enough for them to fit through! I did not bother to replace it after that. Schwinn was excellent about the return though, excellent customer service.

Cool bike but horrible to assemble
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This bike is very cool, my son likes it, but 5 hours into the assembly I finally realized I needed to take it to a professional to end putting together. I can follow instructions but the manual is rumor has it that for all bikes mongoose sold over a 5 year period. Very hard to place together!

    Assembly problems

Unless you are mechanically handy, do not buy a bike in a box. Also, the incorrect pedals were sent in this box rumor has it that they were 1/2″ instead of 3/8″ threads. I found this out when I went to pay $40 to have this bike assembled. We like the bike OK, but it cost quite a bit to have assembled and the pedals were incorrect.
